There will be a meeting on Saturday, May 1st from 11:00 am to 1: pm at the library for all participants in the Monson 250th Anniversary Quilt project. At this meeting, I plan to solicit quilts for the upcoming quilt exhibit to be held in March 2011. Hopefully, there will be a lot of participation. I also plan to announce a “quilt challenge”.
At the May 1st meeting, all participants will be able to meet each other and see the finished blocks that everyone has made for the quilt, as well as help decide the layout of the blocks. There will be signature block for each participant to sign which will be included in the finished quilt.
The “quilt challenge” is open to any quilter from Monson who would like to make a wall-hanging titled “My Monson Quilt” The only rules are that the quilter must use fabric from his/her own stash and that the finished wall-hanging must be no larger than a perimeter of 160 inches. The wall-hanging can be anything that the quilter chooses which will show how they see Monson or what Monson means to them. Finished wall-hanging quilts are due by March 2011 and will displayed in a group at the quilt exhibit. Prizes will be awarded based on a viewer’s choice ballot at the exhibit.
That’s about it. Please let me know if there are any questions. You can contact me at dsull54@comcast.net
